October memories...

HAPPY MORNINGS...my baby girl is usually this happy in the morning. Her first noices in the morning are happy coos. This was from October 17th, 2009. To many more happy mornings.
HAPPY 35TH ANNIVERSARY GRANNY AND PAPA!! On October 18th, Mom and Dad celebrated 35 years together!! Congrats we love you both. Mom was working out of town so we managed to get these pics to Dad before he made the trip out to see her. (because I was late getting them in the mail we used the 21st century technology to upload them to Walmarts website and print them in Brownwood. Sometimes technology is a goo thing)
Blessed Babies...Also, on October 18th we celebrated the birth of Makena (and many more babies) at Prestoncrest Church of Christ. We enjoyed having family near us that day. Granny and Papa were celebrating their anniversary in West Texas because Granny had to work. However, we enjoyed having Don's family and Uncle Tyler with us to celebrate. Here is the lady of honor with her Daddy.
And then she was exhausted...it takes a lot out of a lady in the spot light. Grammy, Gramps, and Uncle Tyler went to class with us that day. Here are Grammy and Gramps enjoying a few moments with the woman of the hour.More fun with Grammy...
Makena really enjoyed her Uncle Marcus.
Fun with Uncle Marcus and Aunt Amanda.

Here is a pic of our precious family. We are truly blessed!!

Here is the actual event. It was difficult to take pictures from the seats. Many wonderful families were blessed that day and Makena was precious!!
More time spent with Uncle Marcus. As you can tell she is really enjoying herself.
Here is Makena and Uncle Tyler. She is truly loved by so many! We are so blessed to have a wonderful family. I seem to have missed getting pics of Chris, Stephanie and Caleb, but they were there (juggling church services) and we appreciate them coming.Gramps and Makena. She is about to spy the pen in his pocket. She is looking forward to having a blizzard with Gramps one of these days.I took this picture to show off her new K-Swiss tennis shoes. Granny got them for her before she was born and I almost forgot to get them out. Thanks Granny for such a cute outfit...from the top of my head to the bottom of my toes.
Makena getting rested for her first Halloween party with our Wednesday night small group at the Davis house. She was the cutest little jack-o-latern!!
Heidi and her mom Anna. Sweetest little flower!
Here are more of the precious kids from our small group. Ellie was Super Woman, Cale the policeman, Allie the princess, Hannah the tiger, and Layton the racecar driver.

Miss McKenna, the sock puppet, and her daddy Patrick.

More pics of our precious little girl. She started clasping/clapping her hands. She is growing up so fast.

We took a trip to the Flower Mound pumpkin patch with the Conleys. Here is baby Caden trying to blend in with the pumkins.
What a precious family. Jack, Jenny, Colten, and Caden!! Love you guys!

Makena and Mommy..

Makena and Daddy...
Our family in the pumkin patch...

Makena was avoiding the sun in this one but thought it was cute.

It is fun to think about where Makena will go to college...ACU, Harding, A&M perhaps. Here she poses for her "Little Wildcat" photo session...
she loves her toes..wish I was that flexible.Playing with her giant worm...with Riggins standing guard in the background.

Yea!! Makena!
Precious girl..
This one is my favorite.

Here is her serious side...in deep conversation with her butterfly...
I had to add this picture because it captures a stage. She started holding herself up with her hand flipped under. It looks painful to me but she seems perfectly comfortable. I am sure she'll figure it out.

Makena started sitting up pretty good before her 6 month birthday! She still needed a little support of the boppy at this time but by 6.5 months had it completely mastered with only a a few flops to her belly from sitting position.
Big Blue Eyes...

Riggins loves to watch her play and steals a kiss from time to time. She doesn't seem to mind too much. (Becky, the worm has become the best barrier for her play mat. Thanks!)
Oh the happy smiles...

This just shows her personality so well..

AGGIE FOOTBALL: Makena's last game of the season October 31st!
Happy Day with the Aggies...Got a little chilly at the end of the day...

GOAL LINE STANCE!!

MAKENA AND HER DADDY!

We had a wonderful time at the game. We hope that we'll have many more years of games in Aggieland!
Well that wraps up October. It was fun filled. We praise God for the blessing of our little girl! Only He could make such a precious little girl!

In prayer for the Jacobs Family

The week of September 26th (and still today) many prayers were lifted due to the loss of baby Chase at 34 weeks in utero. A large number of people released blue balloons in his memory on October 3rd. Our prayers remain with this dear family as they continue to live through this very difficult time.
Each day we are thankful for this baby girl!! Dear God, please hold the Jacobs family today and forever more.

5 Months and counting...

Well I am behind again but wanted to get these pics posted. Makena turned 5 months old this month. She continues to grow faster than we can keep up. We don't have an official scale but I suspect at this point she was around 16.5 pounds. We started oatmeal cereal this month. The first time she wasn't a big fan. Most of it ended up down the front of her. It only took a few more times for her to figure out it was pretty good stuff. (Tonight she actually ate a little avacado. She still wrinkled her nose at it but was curious.) Besides new food, she has definitely become a fan of being on her belly. She immediately flips onto her belly any time she is put down. She can get on her hands and knees for a second or two but doesn't seem to know what to do once she is there. More practice is improving her ability to sit up but is not doing it without some close supervision at this point. She is not quite steady yet. Of course, she is talking and cooing even more.

SHE LOVES HER DADDY! Any time Don walks into the room and she hears his voice she can't help but giggle. She lights up at the sight of him. Is this how little girls get their daddy's wrapped around their finger?!? I think it might be working. :)
She thinks Riggins is absolutely the funniest thing on earth. She chuckles so loud when Riggins runs through the house. They are going to be good friends one day.

Here is a picture from one of ther oatmeal sessions. She loves it all over her face.

On October 10 we went to College Station for the Aggie game. Makena and I ended up not actually going to the game. It was cool and raining so I decided it best to keep her inside. We went to the mall for a little while and then met Brad, Michael and Don at Rosa's after the game was over. Here are some pics from the ride home. She was tuckered out!

Fall is upon us...

I wanted to continue where I left off. Labor day weekend was great! The next weekend Makena and I went to Rising Star for one last visit before Granny went to West Texas and it was also Rising Star Homecoming. The trip home was a bit nerve racking due to the rain and construction, but God took care of us and we made it safe and sound. We didn't really do much for Homecoming because it rained all day. Makena and I went to the business meeting with Granny. For those of you who don't know what a Homecoming business meeting is, it is a meeting that mainly consist of getting the homecoming committee together and honoring the 50 year class. Excluding Makena I was the youngest there by about 10 years. It was fun to see everyone. We took pics with Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Barbara but Granny has them. Here are a few pics from the weekend. These were taken Sunday before we all headed out.

I thought this pic was cute because Makena is starting to put her head down like this like she is bashful or hiding.

She was having so much fun with Granny.

Granny was jumping up and down with her and she thought it was so funny. I wish I would have gotten out the video camera. Her laugh is absolutely addictive from her seal sound to her belly laugh.
Makena hanging out with Papa as mom was eating a yummy breakfast.
Cody (my cousin), Teresa, and Casey stopped by for a few minutes. Casey was so cute trying to pat Makena's head. It was so good to see them!
Uncle Tyler got rocking duty while I got ready to go.

It was a wonderful visit. God got Makena and I safely home and we were off to the races for another week.
On Thursday, September 17th, I was changing Makena on the changing table and I sat her up to change her shirt and she decided to prop herself up with her hands while she was sitting there. I managed to get Don to come in before she decided she was too hungry to show off her sitting skills for mom and dad. So after she ate I tried to get her to re-invent the moment but this is all I could manage to get. Just picture her arms straight and her not looking like she is going to fall over. :)

On September 19th, we headed to College Station to watch the Aggies play. Makena got to see them play too!! So this was her very FIRST AGGIE game. Here is a shot of her trying to hold her bottle on the way down there in the car. This is new for her. She is getting very interested in reaching out for things.

As we arrived at the stadium, Don locked her stoller up. Then we headed up to our seats.Makena's first game was good but she struggled through the first half. She was tired and all of the loud noice scared her. She and I moved up to the top so that we weren't in the middle of all the people and she ate a little and then took a nap. She did much better in the second half of the game.

I thought this was really cute. Hopefully Don thinks so too!?!?!? Makena and Daddy took a nap after Makena had an early breakfast.

NEW THINGS:
- I found Makena on her tummy in her bed (kinda stuck, she hasn't figured out quite how to get her arm out from under her yet).
- Yesterday, while we were at a work party, she decided she wanted a drink of my water in my cup. She took two or three small little sips. She was getting hungry so I think she thought it was her bottle because she wanted nothing to do with it today.
- Also, she has become a big fan of Riggins. She reaches out for him all the time. Riggins loves it because that means he gets to lick her. She just laughs when he starts licking her. Of course we have to let him know when it has been enough.
I just thought this was precious. She and I stayed home today as we needed to rest. She is also having a hard time with conjestion so it was good for us to be at home.
To all a good night...

Wow it's almost been a month...

I am shocked that some how I have managed to go a month without recording anything in the blog. There has been a lot going on. The end of August kicks off football season which is a fun part of the fall but also keeps us busy.

Friday, August 28th - Makena went to her first football game. She watched the Coppell Cowboys take on South Garland. She did wonderful through the game. She slept for a little while and everyone around thought she was the cutest thing every. One lady made the comment "I love those chubby thighs, they look just like mine!!"

Saturday, August 29th - Saturday morning brought more football in the Carroll house. Don's buddies came over completed their annual Fantasy Football Draft. I cooked breakfast for the guys. Makena joined Daddy in the living room for the draft. Actually she just slept which was much to the guys surprise since it was pretty loud. The girl can sleep!! She gets it honestly though...Don and I are pretty good sleepers. :)
After breakfast was complete, Makena and I went to Frisco to meet Dana, Jackson, Jenny, Colten and Caden for a little fun at the mall. Lunch was a little crazy but we loved it. Makena and I did a little shopping for the rest of the afternoon and then headed home. She is an angel!

Friday, September 4th - We headed to the Oaks in preparation for the first Aggie Football game of the season. Makena still travels pretty well. It was a long trip down there due to some traffic but we made it safe and sound. We hung out with Lisa, Michael, Maggie, Brad and Kate. On Saturday, Granny and Uncle Tyler came down because Granny wanted to see her before she left for West Texas. Makena stayed with Granny while we went to the game. They had a wonderful evening. They went for a walk, took a bath and had so great play time before bed.

Makena also turned 4 MONTHS OLD over the weekend! I didn't actually get pics on the 6th but these are from the 5th! HAPPY 4 MONTHS BABY!

Thanks Granny for taking care of our precious bundle. Mommy missed her a lot! Take a look at our little Aggie. She does have a Harding T-shirt too! But no ACU purple yet. I am sure Daddy will take care of that at some point.

On Sunday, we headed back to Ennis to spend a little time with Grammy and Gramps. We celebrated Gramp's Birthday on Monday at lunch. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAMPS!! Hope you enjoyed your hamburger. Happy Labor Day...sorry you had to work.
Granny and Uncle Tyler brought this big surprise from Papa. We managed to get a pic while we were at Grammy and Gramps.

Thought this was a cute picture of Daddy, Grammy and Makena. 3 generations! Hope Grammy's computer is still working after Daddy and Makena got through with it.

Tuesday, September 8th - 4 MONTH CHECK-UP
Second round of shots weren't any better than the first round but we made it through. Mommy cuddled her up and the tears stopped pretty quickly. It just breaks your heart. Stats at 4 month:
Weight: 15 lbs 14.5 oz
Length: 26 inches
The doctor said she was great and growing at a perfect rate! We have a wonderful blessing!!
Makena is laughing a lot, making lots of sounds, and rolling over some. She moves around and night. It has become common for her to be laying across her bed. She is also starting to notice us eating and is watching Riggins a lot.
Hopefully I'll get everyone caught up soon.
One special note for tonight Makena actually sat up on her changing table using her arms as stablizers. I tried to get pictures later on the couch after she ate (she wasn't going to wait any longer), but she didn't last as long as she did on the changing table. I'll post those pics later.
