Family Time

We were able to spend the long weekend with family. Time was spent at the park where Riggins got a little "fetch" time. Daddy and Makena had a great time! We had a great time on the walk. The weather has been wonderful.

Uncle Marcus holding Sadie (2.5 weeks) and Auntie Amanda holding Brooklyn (5.5 weeks).

Makena's first trip up the big slide. Took "tongue" concentration.

Makena decided Elmo (Valentine's day gift from Granny B) needed to take a stroll in the backyard.

Just a cute pic of Brooklyn...should have been her Valentine's outfit.

Brooklyn is 1 Month Old!

My baby girl turned 1 month old on February 12th. She is 22 inches long, 9 pounds 9.6 oz, and her head is 13 inches around. She is getting so big. We have had a great month with Daddy at home with us. Brooklyn is sleeping ok but is still pretty inconsistent. She did go 7 hours between feedings after Papa rocked her to sleep on Friday night. What a way to bring in your 1 month birthday with eating and 7 hours of beauty rest!! Was great for me too!

Brooklyn is eating well and gaining right on track. She went from 9 pounds 6.4 ounces at 3 weeks to 9 pounds 9.6 ounces at 1 month and 2 days (Valentine's Day). She is now eating from 6-8 times most days.

She is holding her head up and looking around more and more. This morning she even smiled at me...usually smiles occur while she is sleeping. Her eyes are currently still blue/gray. We'll see if they stick around or if she'll have brown eyes like her momma. Another thing she does is hold on very tight. I don't remember Makena doing that. I remember Makena pulling her hands away when you touched them. Brooklyn loves to hang on to things, whether it be your finger, shirt or my hair. Here are a few pictures capturing this month. I also have some others that Jennifer took that I will post soon. They turned out wonderful!

Granny B and Papa with Brooklyn before church. I wish you could see her dress better. It is a beautiful Feltmon Brothers dress from a friend, along with a beautiful crocheted sweater.

Our family of four before Brooklyn's first trip to church at Prestoncrest.

One more picture in my coming home outfit.

Special outfits from Janet and Becky. Love them! Thanks for the outfits!

Resting up...maybe getting ready to go shopping. :)

Brooklyn's first bath at home on January 20th. She did not like it, but she likes them much better now.

Makena 21 Months...

My Growing Girl...
Makena's life has changed a lot in the last month, but she has taken to it pretty well. She continues to increase her vocabulary. We have been working on "please", "thank you", and "love you". She seems to be picking them up pretty quickly, not to mention continuing to repeat what we say more and more. We also hear a lot about "Elmo" in the "Offees". She has gotten spoiled by her Daddy to watch Elmo in the office. She knows somehow Daddy makes Elmo appear with the remote. She is our little observer...she knows how things work.

My heart melts as she is learning to be a big sister. Since Daddy is now doing bedtime routine every night since I am not supposed to lift her, she usually comes back to the living room once she has her PJ's on to give me kisses. That has now become kisses for both me and Brooklyn. One night when she came back to give us kisses I had already put Brooklyn in the pack-n-play for the night, which confused Makena and she made it known that she wanted kisses. I told her that Brooklyn was in bed and she could go in and blow her kisses. Makena being the sweetheart that she is marched straight into the bedroom and blew her baby sister kisses. Melted my heart. She loves her little sister very much and continues to practice being a mommy with her babies. I have never seen a child diaper, clean and rock a baby more than Makena does. I love her nurturing spirit.

She weighs about 24 or 25 pounds. I haven't been able to get her height but since Brooklyn has been home she seems like she has grown a foot. I can't believe how big she is getting. Her personality continues to develop and get cuter (and a little stubborn) every day. She now has conversations daily on her phone. She talks about "sister", "reesies" (Riggins), Papa, Tyler, B, Elmo, outside and whatever is around her at the time.

We are up to 12 teeth, but still missing a set on top and bottom for everything to be filled in back to her molars.

Thank you God for our precious girl. Please help us to raise her with you as her focus.

From Sun to Snow Days...

Some called it the ice-polcalypse then it turned to "blizzard" conditions in Dallas. However, here is how the previous week ended. It was gorgeous 70 degrees or close to it anyways. We got to take a walk or two. It was so cute to see Makena, Daddy, and Riggins playing in the green belt or "park" as we like to call it. Daddy and Makena were taking turns throwing the ball to Riggins while Brooklyn and I watche from the sidelines. I have to say it was great to be out of the house those days. I was a little sore afterwards but it was totally worth it. The sunshine felt great! One of our first walks.
Then after the ice hit, we spent a lot of time indoors. Learning how to operate the computer.

Early morning with Daddy: "Daddy, you look like you need to go back to sleep."

Ice days are so exhausting...

Elmo time...must have all three blankets and the paci.

"Sisters"

Fun time in the snow that followed the ice...at least 4 inches. Like Makena's boots. Didn't do much good when she decided to sit in the snow rather than walk in it.

Tasting the snow...remember don't eat the yellow snow.

Snow covered backyard.
Riggins catching snowballs.

Fun times with Daddy!

"Mom, this stuff is fun!!"
It may have shut down DFW, but we had a great time!

Winter Storm 2011

Riggins was the only one that braved the cold today! After rain, then sleet, then snow this is what we were left with...not to mention chilly winds and temperatures in the teens. We spent the day indoors with a warm fire thanks to Don. So very glad Don is still home to help out.
