Hi, Bye, and a little Attitude

Makena has been waving for a little while now but yesterday she said "hi" and "bye" while waving. Don and I were waiving at her saying "hi" and then she repeated it and waived. Then we said "bye" and she did it right back. She hasn't really said anything else except the occasional "mamamama" and "dadadada" but doesn't really associate them. She is giving more kisses lately. They are the sweetest moments when she leans in to give you a kiss.

Pictures are of her new little car and I managed to get one of her waiving to mark the occasion. She also started playing peek-a-boo. She will raise a burp cloth in front of her face and then I'll say "where's Makena" and she'll lower it with the biggest smile!

Makena has also figured out that she has an opinion about a few things. She now knows when she wants down, when she doesn't want her diaper changed, and when she isn't ready to sit in her high chair. When you lay her down on the changing table, she sounds like a little engine starting up and then lets out a big cry. She is also becoming very good at the "stiff back" protest. When she want down or doesn't want to go in her high chair she stiffens her back and throws her head back. I am afraid the "head throw" is going to cause some pain for one or both of us at some point.
Makena spent most of the weekend with Daddy while I went to our PC Women's Retreat. I heard some amazing women speak. Hearing crisis in other lives sure helps put your own life into perspective. The women have had Christ beaming in their lives through horrible life events. All of which God has shown his love and goodness. I pray tonight for continued peace in all of their lives...night time is often tough. Makena has really taken to her Daddy this weekend. She loves him so so much!!

We love you daddy. Thanks for taking care of Makena while I was out.

Pure concentration by my little girl and Riggins looking on wishing she would give him that squeaky duck laying in front of her. Riggins loves Makena. He still spends many hours sleeping in her room taking care of his baby sister. He can't wait until she can throw a ball. :)

Poor poor puppy...

This is her favorite toy so far! She loves to put the blocks in and take them out, then dance the music her cookie jar makes. (riggins is keeping an eye on that duck!)

Such a big girl...She is laughing at her Daddy! This usually happens in the process of standing up...sometimes her mouth serves as an extra hand.

Pics on her new car.

Here is her waive...hope you can see it my flash was a little blinding.
It is hard to see but her little tongue is out as she concentrates holding on to her car. Daddy is helping by not letting it slip. She is not quite ready for the moving tires yet, but it will only take a little time.

I can't believe she'll be 10 months old in a week. I will celebrate my last day of work on March 5th and she turns 10 months old on March 6th. The journey has been amazing and I am looking forward to spending so much more time with her.
Until we talk again...
