October Pics

Fun Pics from October...

Daddy and Makena at Coppell High School Football Game.Football can wear a girl out.

Lunch time fun...she was not happy when she got stuck like this. Enjoying the fall weather in Texas includes a trip to see the ducks.

Riggins...poor guy has taken a back seat to our girls but we still love him.

Ball time with Riggins:

Makena likes to mimic the dog and sniff the grass. It is hilarious.

Makena's first go at make-up...a little too much brown for her.

Fun at our small group Halloween Party!

Pantry time fun...I guess she needed a snack..

and Riggins did too.

Things I don't want to forget...

- The sweet way Makena says "Ma-Ma". Yesterday I walked into bible class to pick her up and she was playing with a friend. The moment she saw me she jumped up and said "ma-ma". She then wanted to make sure I got her bag...that could be because she didn't nap and her paci was in the bag. :) That sweet little voice melts my heart.

- Amen! Her little arm shoots into the air...like when we sing "if you are happy and you know it".

- Blowing kisses...and those cuddly hugs.

- When she gets up early and we share a nap in the rocking chair until the sun comes up. I try to take in those moments because I know it won't be long before sleeping in my lap won't be possible. She is getting so big.

- The way she tries to boss Riggins around. Who knew I sounds so mean when I talk to him?? But also the way she loves on him and crawls all over him. They are going to be good friends.

Week 29: Where does the time go?

Although 11 weeks still seems like a long time, the reality of our new baby girl being here is starting to hit me. We are going to be gone a number of weekends with football and holidays approaching, which means prep time with Don home is coming to an end. After being sick last week, my doctor gave me some meds on Thursday. I am definitely better but the cough is still hanging around.

This little girl, name still unknown, is getting her workouts checked off her to-do list. I love all of her little kicks but she hurts me sometimes and she seems to move a lot more than I remember Makena moving. She may be our little dancer or kickboxer...seems to be quite the mover and the shaker.

Overall, things are good. I can't wait to meet her but there is lots to do in the next few weeks. I know, I know...she'll have what she needs when she gets here. However, I think the nesting is starting to kick in and I am ready to get some things done.

Daddy and Fun

After trying 3 times to get these pictures loaded, I finally conquered it! Over the last couple of weeks we have enjoyed time with family and friends. First, we got to enjoy supporting Don during the deacon "installation" at church. I realize this picture is not in focus but it caught a special moment. Here is our sweet little family. 27 1/2 weeks pregnant.

Chris, Steph, Caleb, Grammie and Gramps joined the festivities.

Family fun. Stephanie (20 weeks prego with twins).

Secondly, we spent time with friends at the Arboretum pumpkin patch and petting zoo.

Makena and friend McKenna...not so interested in sitting still for pictures.

Snack time...hard work climbing pumpkins.

Sweet friends Caden and Colten.

Makena loved the animals. She kept calling the little goats dogs and barking at them. So sweet.

You can't tell how happy she was by this picture. Maybe she was mad because I kept interupting her to take pictures.

Sweet kisses from Caden.

She sat with me for about 30 seconds before she was off to find another pumpkin.

Pregnancy: Weeks 27 & 28

In the last two weeks, this baby has turned into Super Girl. There are two places she kicks me and it folds me in half. It feels like she digs her heal into a bruise. Ouch! She seems to be doing all sorts of gymnastics. One day, she was kicking my ribs and punching my bladder at the same time. Sounds like she would like a little more room or something. Makes me wonder if she will hate the swaddle like Makena did.

The big changes in me in the last two weeks:
- Hamburger cravings
- Thirsty for anything over ice
- Spider veins on my right calve...
- Allergies hit about a week ago and got severe this week. Now moved into my chest. Gotta love the pollen.
- Realizing every day how quickly time is moving along and how much we need to get done. At the same time, I am trying to spend "quality" time with Makena before she moves from being my "baby" to my "big girl".

Appointment Updates:
- My sugar levels ended up being fine.
- My "blood count" is trending down which means it is time to start iron supplements.
- Plan for delivery is still to "wait and see".
- Rhogam shot has been taken. Shot that protects any future babies from my body rejecting it if this baby girl has a positive blood type.
- Hopefully thanks to some meds, I will be feeling better tomorrow.
- We will have a weight check sono at 36 weeks, which will also tell us if she is no longer breech.

More Pics

Makena refuses to let me put a headband or bow on her little head for more than 5 minutes but she wore her beanie for at least an hour today! I guess she knows what she likes and what she doesn't.
"Look Momma, here come the clean cars!"
"Refueling for the next car show!"

Took this to capture the breakout on her face after eating some fruit but her eyes are so pretty I had to post.

Daddy is such a good builder.

"Yummy milk Mommy..glad you taught me how to drink out of the bowl."

Look how big she is...

Here is some proof that she figured out the doggie door.

Bath time fun!!

Saved the most beautiful smile for last! I love you Makena!

17 Months and 26 Weeks!

It's amazing how time flies by. Makena is 17 months old today and little Nugget is 26 weeks old. Makena seems to be learning so much and getting a little more adventurous, which for a mommy is a little bittersweet.

Makena's month has been full of new things. Although, she can't say a lot of words yet, she certainly knows what a lot of things are. She now recognizes and can point to elbow, knee, arm, and leg. We have been reading her bible every night and she knows which book to get. I may have mentioned in her 16 month update that she would check (pat) her diaper when she is went. She is now pretty consistant and will go get a diaper for me to change her. She actually tries to change herself occasionally. As for adventure, she is climbing more and negotiating steps. She also has figured out the dog door goes outside. It hasn't become a problem that she escapes but I suspect that will come.

Words:
Diaper - Until today diaper was pronounced "die". Today it became "die-ter".
Daddy - Until earlier this week has been "Da-da". Now she says "my da-da".
Momma - Still "ma-ma"
Riggins - Uses that more and more, "ninins"
Yellow - new word recently.
Cracker - "Ca-car". She can be very demanding with her "more" signing and the word cracker. Sometimes I think she is going to hurt her hand she is signning so hard.
Night Night - She has started talking about "nite nite" and is quick to shake her head "no" if I suggest it at the wrong time.
I am sure there are more but these are the ones that come to mind.

Motor Skills:
- She can climb in and out of her baby's crib.
- She can also put her shoes on...sometimes she gets them on the right feet sometimes not, but she can take them off and put them on.
- She can almost get her shorts on but she can definitely get them off.
Eating:
- Continues to do very well with fork and spoon.
- She also learned how to drink the milk out of her cereal bowl this month.
- Eats pretty well out of a bowl or off a plate but still needs to be monitored to make sure it doesn't end up on the floor.
- She is a little bit picky these days but I am trying to make sure she isn't getting the same thing every day and try new things. She seems to surprise me at every meal. Things I think she will eat, she doesn't and vice versa.

Sleeping:
- Only one nap, 2 hour nap.
- 10 or so hours at night.

She looks taller to me but I haven't messured her. Since walking she looks a lot thinner. However, I think she is going to be blessed with the Callaway thighs. I need to get weight and height.

my blanket!!

"Makena, can Daddy please watch football?"

"I am the Princess of the Oaks"

Nap time with Daddy

26 Weeks Update
- Contractions are still happening but don't happen every day. Seem to happen when I have done too much or haven't had enough water.
- Getting ready for the shower in a few weeks. So very thankful for my PC friends for hosting.
- Had some lower back pain but nothing a little rest doesn't cure.
- We go in for the glucose test tomorrow to test for gestational diabetes. It was not an issue with Makena so hopefully it will be good this time too.

Below shows me prego with Makena at about the same time.
